Psalm 81:1-7 NIV

Sing for joy to God our strength;
  shout aloud to the God of Jacob!
Begin the music, strike the tambourine,
  play the melodious harp and lyre.
Sound the ram’s horn at the New Moon,
  and when the moon is full, on the day of our Feast;
this is a decree for Israel,
  an ordinance of the God of Jacob.
He established it as a statute for Joseph
  when he went out against Egypt,
  where we heard a language we did not understand.
He says, “I removed the burden from their shoulders;
  their hands were set free from the basket.
In your distress you called and I rescued you,
  I answered you out of a thundercloud;
  I tested you at the waters of Meribah. Selah

Midday Prayer

By your word, O God, your creation sprang forth,
and we were given the breath of life.
By your word, eternal God,
death is overcome,
Christ is raised from the tomb,
and we are given a new life in the power of your Spirit.

May we boldly proclaim this good news,
by the words of our mouths
and the deeds of our lives,
rejoicing always in your powerful presence;
through Jesus Christ our risen Lord.
Amen.

Matthew 5:13-16 NIV

“You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled by men.

“You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.”

Ephesians 1:18-19 NIV

I pray also that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints, and his incomparably great power for us who believe.
